Using YouTube with Zoom
If you want to play a YouTube video to students you are meeting with in Zoom, there are a couple of things to remember - and a couple of new features to be aware of.
Select the browser window that has the YouTube video open as the window to share. You can have multiple tabs open in the same browser window and switch between them during the class meeting
If you intend to play a YouTube video:
click to select the window that contains the video
check the box to Share Sound in the lower left corner
click the Share button in the lower right corner.
The Optimize for video clip option does not improve the video quality. Instead, it hides the gallery view of meeting participants so that there is more space on the screen to display the video
If you forget to check the box to share sound, you can do that after the screen share has started.
If you are using multiple monitors, the window to be shared must be on the primary monitor. If you share a program window that is not on the primary monitor, you will see the message below.
Sharing will resume automatically when you drag the window onto the primary computer screen.
